Kubrick, Stanley - A - Oct 7, 1965 -Handwritten Response Concerning a Writers Script
7 October 1965, Letter on a 7 ½ x 10 sheet from Lydia, assistant to Stanley Kubrick. Lydia’s letter to Kubrick is concerning a script that she has received for him in the New York office. Kubrick, after receiving Lydia’s letter, handwrote his response in the lower right border, in a red fine point marker,
“Thanks, Write Mr. G and return script for me Regards, Stanley”.
Very fine with typical mailing folds. We have twice blurred out the name of the poor author, whose script was being returned. This blurring effect is done digitally in the scan. It is visible in the actual letter. The new owner will get to read who this maligned author is.
This letter comes from the files of Lydia Wilen, assistant to Stanley Kubrick from about 1963 to 1965. Lydia maintained her friendship with Kubrick and continued their correspondence well into the 1970’s.
