Kubrick, Stanley - I - Aug 9, 1972 TLS On Stanley Kubrick Letterhead - Nice Content
Aug 9, 1972, One page TLS on an 8 ¼ x 11 ½, On Stanley Kubrick Letterhead. Date, Salutation and Lydia written in green felt tip. Signed "Regards Stanley" in the same green felt tip. It appears Stanley had ventured into using a personal computer to compose his correspondence and had not yet mastered how to date and personalize each letter.
Amazing content to his friend Lydia. Kubrick asks Lydia to “Give my regards to Billy Friedkin and my congratulations for his brilliant French Connection". He also mentions receiving, from her a copy of "The Life and Times of Napoleon". Kubrick’s long planned film version of Napoleon, which spent many years in research and treatment, is famously known as his great unfinished project.
This letter comes from the files of Lydia Wilen assistant to Stanley Kubrick from about 1963 to 1965. Lydia maintained her friendship with Kubrick and continued their correspondence well into the 1970’s.
